The gunners up next and what a big big game for both clubs but for different reasons. The gunners are obviously going for the title and we’re looking for a massive confidence boost as i’m sure our horrific injury list is affecting the rest of the players mentality whilst trying to get back in the mix for a top4 finish. Is this too big a game to throw some of the kids in that done so well against exeter, i think so but you never know with klopp, he may pick one or two of them to start, one thing is for sure, our bench will have a few of them on it. I’ll select my team but like i said, klopp might throw one or two of the kids in, either way, my team would be,

migs

clyne   toure   caulker   moreno

lucas

milner         Can

firmino          lallana

benteke

I was thinking of putting llori in where smith is but he was totaly awful against exeter so for me smith is the far better option. I think we need all these players or whoever klopp starts with to be on the top of their game to get anything from this match, arsenal are flying right now and they will definitely feel they can get a result here, i think we end this game with a draw we’ve had a right result, best of luck lads.

Brendan reputedly got Illori for his awesome speed and reach, but somehow never played him due to his rawness and lack of experience and positional judgment. I wonder if he’ll come good someday?

There’s a chance that Sakho will be back and Ibe and I would play both if fit. Ibe to replace Benteke so we play with Firmino as a false 9. This formation is more likely to work against technical sides like Arsenal than the all energy physical sides.

Thankfully Sanchez is still not recovered , but they have got results without him , Starting Benteke will put a lot of pressure on our attacking front and Gunners will counter easily, we have to start with Ibe if he is fit.

@Huytonian there is confirmed news that Sakho will be back ….. 🙂

Huytonian

It’s not definite according to Klopp’s news conference but it seems very likely that Sakho will play. Also Henderson and Milner are available which is good news, especially Hendo. Haven’t heard about Ibe.

I didn’t think Llori looked poor as much as it looked like he ran out of gas playing as long as he did. So I don’t he could start this because of that anyway.
Smith looked best at Exeter. Problem for him is Moreno is one of the few starters who isnt injured, and both our regular first team fullbacks have performed fairly consistently well.
I’d expect Sinclair to be on the bench considering his performance and our lack offer options up top

I agree, Ilori did ok until he tired. Not sure if we’ll see him again though if Sakho is available and there is talk of Caulker coming in on loan from QPR.

Klopp has taken a big gamble not signing anybody who can help the starting XI considering that we have to face to two big teams (Arsenal and Man U) and crystal *********** in the flesh) and other tough teams , let’s hope his gamble works….

Last season the fourth placed team had 70 points, given the competition in this season is very tough I would say 65 points is something will take us top 4, if we want to sign some big names in the summer, it is very important that we get to top 4.

I don’t think it is worth just buy players just help out. I would sooner wait until. The summer when players of the standard we need will be willing to move. We have had an unfortunate amount of injuries this season, and we were with out sick note Sturidge and the beginning carrying injury from last season. Ings will be like a new signing at he start of next season as will Gomez. We already have creative front men, so if we get a couple of strikers, and central defender we will be alright. I don’t think our overall squad is as bad as people make out. We just need a few quality players in some critical positions and we will be good to go.

My heart says Arsenal will not get the three points from this fixture because they will be nervous especially Wenger is up against Jurgen “Heavy Metal” Klopp.

As my for mind… I am not thinking about it right not but that will change when the first whistle is blown. Like you all we’ll be at our wits end 😀

Manure Toilet drew 2-2 against the Toon so if we win tomorrow then we’re a point behind them which sets us up perfectly to kick their behinds and over take em on the weekend.

What we know about Arsenal is that they’ve got pacy attackers and that they’ll pass the ball right through you if you give them long enough in possession. This makes me think that one of the reasons why Klopp has signed Caulker is that we haven’t exactly got the most mobile of defences. Kolo is no spring chicken and Sakho usually takes a few games to get back up to speed after an injury. I wouldn’t be surprised if Caulker was put in straight away to give the defence some legs. If Klopp thought Ilori was ready to be parachuted into the team straight away I don’t think he would’ve signed Caulker. It’s also likely Caulker is Klopp’s response to our problem of not winning enough headers on corners. I reckon there’s a good possibility that against Arsenal and United Caulker willed be paired with either Kolo or Sakho in the centre of defence.

Don’t want to risk Hendo mate, I feel joe allen can start and then milner from the bench as he is coming back from the injury , if Ibe is fit , we have start to with him, big ben can come from the bench….

Koped49

Caulker will give us some height at the back, to help against high balls, corners and crosses. Will also gives us hi eight in their box as well which will help when we have corners. Will take some of the weight off Big Ben when he is playing,

very tough to grind a victory against Arsenal, so if we are winning we have to attack well, considering the spirit we have shown in the last two matches and to remain positive I am predicting a 3-2 nail biting finish…. 😛

Liverpool: Mignolet, Clyne, Toure, Sakho, Moreno, Can, Henderson, Milner, Lallana, Ibe, Firmino. Subs: Ward, Benteke, Caulker, Lucas, Allen, Smith, Teixeira.

A returning Sakho and Kolo on from the start? That’ll be interesting. If I was Arsenal I’d go at our defence hell for leather in the first half hour, before Sakho has a chance to settle. If we get to halftime without conceding I think our chances will be better in the second half.

Despite the injuries to the team, I’m hoping for a win against the gooners. If you offered me a draw now before the game, I’d take it. This xmas and new year has been somewhat disappointing so far but we have to look ahead and let Klopp sink his teeth into the team and English football.

Looks like Klopp has told the team to not allow Arsenal much possession. It’s working so far, although we’ve already seen what Arsenal can do with the little possession they get.

We’re going to have to get a goal ahead soon because we’re going to be knackered in the second half, especially given how many games we’ve played recently.

First half is over and my wits are all over the place…. 2 great cracking goals and 2 terrible weak goals leaked. We do need to maintain the energy for the second half for which I am concerned. I hope Klopp had a quiet word with the Tea Lady to slip Horse Viagra into the players drinks in the dressing room.

DB-99

Great game but so p*ssed off with Mignolet. His mistakes are costly! They could have easily scored 2 more goals.

RedUncle

Mignolet has been poor this game but Arsenal, predictably, have cut through us too easily as well. We’ve been collectively weak at the back.

HAMNUM8

Think your spot on but our defence is been ravaged by injuries & inconsistent partnerships, mignolet has been ever present….
