Oh, what a week that was. We take a look at top five moments from last week,. Make sure to comment and offer your opinion on current affairs with our beloved club.

Klopp Commits for 6 Years

What became as a mere speculation turned into a fact later last week, as our manager Jurgen Klopp agreed to extend his current contract and sign a new one, lasting until year 2022. Klopp’s assistants Željko Buvač and Peter Krawietz are also on board with the new deal. Owner John Henry stated that they are very excited to what Klopp and his assistants offered the club in the last ten months. No matter how much we are happy with the new deal, it comes as a big surprise, considering the fact that most managers get three year deals at best, but we are sure it is a risk worth taking.

Ings Scores at Tranmere

Liverpool opened their busy pre-season schedule with an away game to Tranmere Rovers, which ended up 1-0 in our favor. Danny Ings scored the only goal of the game, after a brilliant run by youngster Alexander-Arnold. Besides the mentioned duo, newly signed Sadio Mane, Loris Karius and Joel Matip all delivered solid performances. One of the landmarks of the first pre-season game was the omission of out of favor Italian forward Mario Balotelli, who is now set to leave the club, by any means necessary.

Skrtel Medical at Fenerbahce

After a long eight year stay with the red family, Slovakian defender Martin Škrtel is set to join Turkish side Fenerbahce for a reported 5.5 million pounds fee. The 31-year old is expected to finalize his deal later this week, as he has already landed in Istanbul. Škrtel leaves after arguably his worst campaign with our club, which has prompted him to be relegated as the fourth-choice centre-back, behind Dejan Lovren, Mamadou Sakho and Kolo Toure. Škrtel’s reign at Liverpool can be marked as successful after all, as he has shown signs of a world-class defender, but those moments became a rarity in the last two seasons.

Ibe Agrees Terms at Bournemouth

Another player looks set to leave the club in the coming days. Liverpool winger Jordon Ibe has reportedly agreed personal terms with Bournemouth and is poised to complete a 15 million pounds switch. 20-year old Ibe has enjoyed a rather mixed campaign with the Reds, starting the season as the first choice winger under Brendan Rodgers, but ending as squad player under Klopp. His brilliant goal against West Bromwich remains his only goal in the league for Liverpool and an exit was a logical solution. Liverpool did some great piece of business here, assuring that there is a buy-back clause and a hefty sell-on fee for the highly rated winger, should he succeed at this Premier league club.

Sakho Cleared but Injured

After a pretty turbulent couple of months for Mamadou Sakho, it seems as our defender has finally found peace and can come back to play for the club. Sakho was cleared of all charges about the alleged doping scandal earlier in the season, which caused him to miss Europa league final and the EURO 2016 with his country. Sakho now must wait on the court of arbitration to clear his case and might even consider suing UEFA for clear damage of his career. Sakho will also most likely miss out the start of the season anyway, he’s recovering from treatment of an achilles injury. the treatment took place during the ban, although there was no surgery the centre back could be missing for the first 4 weeks of the season. Looks like Matip and Lovren will be the first defensive partnership in what’s to be a competitive place on the teamsheet.

Delighted klopp signed a longterm contract, it seems he’s locked on to this project and is determined to see it through, happy days for us supporters.
I’ve always thought Ings was an excellent signing, a big big shame he got that injury as i felt he would have been prolific for us last season, i expect him to be a hit this coming season.
Cheerio skrtel, should have kept your mouth shut, you would have been remembered more fondly by us, i speak for myself of course.
I’m very disappointed about ibe, really thought he could have pushed on and made it as a first team regular but he just didn’t cut the mustard when given the chance last season. i feel we got a good price for him and i wish him the best for the future.
Sakho, dear god, what does this guy have to do for a bit of good luck. Love sakho and think he’s a beast, he’ll be back dominating our defense next season, no worries there.

Have you seen Sahko is cleared, but now WADA is trying to get banned what he took because they know their *** is hung out to dry legally for what they did to him/LFC/FFF. Total dirtbags.
Hope he gets healthy and comes bag and gives them a big finger by dominating

It’s so obvious what their trying to do so i can’t see them getting away with it. I can see sakho bouncing back from this in style and getting compensation and rightly so, disgraceful what’s happened to him but he comes across as the type of man that will give them the finger and be an even better player for this experience so hopefully it ends up being a win win situation for him, us and LFC.

Funny (but kinda sad as well) I saw about Skrtel.
Top goal scorers against LFC in games Skrtel played…
Tied in 3rd with 5 each:
Arshavin, Giroud, Lukaku, Rooney, Walters
Tied for 1st with 7 each:
RVP and Skrtel (OG)

With Sakho and Gomez injured for the start of the season I’m wondering if Klopp should give Kolo Toure a ring and invite him back for another season? He did very well standing in for Sakho at the end of last season and he would be worth considering as back up to Matip and Lovren at the start of the coming season.

I had two thoughts when I saw Gomez was injured again:
1-I hope he isn’t becoming one of those promising youths whose career amounts to nothing because of repeated injuries.
2-Kolo sure would be nice to have around with his experience and proper attitudes cover
