Well, you all calmed down after thursday night’s game, lol, i still can’t believe we won that but that’s done now, back to the pem lge and a trip to bournemouth.

A big blow for us losing Can for up to 6 weeks but it’s a great chance for the likes of allen to come in and do a job for us, he’s been playing well when on the pitch and i expect him to start this game. I think klopp will make a few changes here so we may see flanno, toure and skrtel come in at the back, maybe even smith and give all our regular back 4 a rest. We know in the main that klopp likes to go with one striker so i’d start studge here to give him a chance of scoring a goal or two in order to build his confidence. So, with all that in mind, my team for tomorrow would be,

migs

flanno   toure  skrtel  smith

milner   allen

ojo      firmino     lallana

studge

I think this team should have enough to beat bournemouth and i fully expect all 3 points to be brought back to anfield but as i said elsewhere, inconsistency has hurt us a lot this season, i do think we’ve turned a corner in that regard though so an away win for me.

I think Klopp’s choice of centre midfielders will be quite revealing. It’s really a choice of Allen, Milner, Lucas or one of the young guys. If Allen doesn’t get a start in this match I think it’s fair to say Klopp doesn’t see a long-term future for him. Milner could of course be one of the centre midfielders but in my eyes he’s been more effective when played out wide. If Klopp does opt for a midfield pair, in a 4-2-3-1, I’d go for Allen taking the more advanced role, he’s not afraid to join in with attacks, and have Lucas sitting deeper in front of the back four. Then again, if Klopp plays a 4-3-3 and has three across the middle I’d have Lucas in the middle, slightly deeper, and Milner and Allen out wide. Klopp only seems to switch to a 4-4-2 diamond later in games when he’s chasing goals.

Do we have to stop talking about Dortmund? Lol
This will show us where our guys heads are at. Are they focused game to game with the task at hand?
Do they want to fight for the best possible PL finish? Or is the EL their focus?
Do they think they’ve “arrived”and expect Bournemouth to roll over for them?
That is what I’ll be watching for. And I think having some non-regulars starting will help push the others because those guys will fight for their future.

Has Skrtel redeemed himelf. He didn’t do too badlly in his last game but prior to that against Saints he gifted them the points and Flanno went to pieces when he had Skrtel next to him. Those two don’t seem to gel otherwise like to see Flanno, Smth, and Allen start, the latter has improved lately compared to a season or two back. He desrves a start

I’ve just seen the team and it’s practically our second team with Ward, Randall, Stewart, Ojo, Ibe and Smith all starting. There’s a very string bench though. I’m wondering if we will play 4-1-4-1 with our two wide men starting. Obviously the PL is second priority now but if there is some consolation it is that when we have used squad players they have generally done well. Surprised that Skrtel and Flanno are not included – are they injured?

Klopp said this in the pre-match presser and I thought at the time it was a bit indicative of his thinking:

“It is a really good opportunity for Joe Allen. Lucas is here, Kevin Stewart is here and we have Pedro Chirivella and Cameron Brannagan so we have a few boys still for central positions.

“We cannot bring them [in] all together but we have to give them confidence to believe they can do it, especially with the young boys.”

Ojo is having a good game. No wonder Klopp called him back from his loan with Wolves. I can see Klopp developing him into a great player.

I like that Allen’s keeping an eye on Stewart, seems to be ready to cover his fellow centre-mid if needs be.

2-0 superb header by Sturridge from Ibe’s freekick

The ends the first half… both goals from Firminio and Sturridge. Sturridge’s back heal shot was some piece of skill that forced Boruc to make that save which lead to Firminio’s goal. One more goal to score and we over take Southampton in 7th place of the PL.

Sturridge has been great, not just his goal but also the work he’s been doing for the team.

Ibe’s been playing surprisingly well.

Fantastic save by Ward…. no wonder Klopp terminated his loan at Aberdeen.

That’s it full time and we take all three points…. Our total is now 51 and we are still in 8th place with one goal behind Southampton with goal difference.

Bournemouth were very unlucky that 3 penalty calls were dismissed. The first two were accidental and the third one was a chest and hand combination looked liked a definitely penalty to me. I leave that up to the officials as many of them have made mistakes through out the season.

Next stop is Wednesday at Anfield… the Merseyside derby and that is going to be a wild encounter.

Thought we tired a bit by the end but overall it was a good team performance with the experienced players really put in a shift so that the youngsters were overloaded. Sturridge and Allen were quite dominant and I thought Ibe and Ojo did their cause no harm. Shame about conceding a goal at the end but a quality display nonetheless.

Liked the way Ward used the ball and used it quickly, not hanging onto it, which helps get the attack moving, and keeps them on the back foot. He also come for the ball on crosses, which then makes the defenders take up on the goal line.

Glad to see Klopp giving opportunities to the youngsters especially Ibe to shine while maintaining freshness to face Villareal in the Europa semifinal ties.

Absolute solid management of the squad by Klopp, also solid performance by the seniors and rookies, good to see Ibe getting a game, I seriously liked Kolo’s performance, he is a solid wall at that position, any mistakes made by Smith or Randall was covered by Lucas and Kolo, you don’t need superstars when you have super commitment and good attitude… let’s keep going .. 🙂

I only saw the highlights on Sky but from what I saw Sturridge was back to his best and Ibe seemed to have regained some of his confidence which is good news. I do hope Lucas reverts to midfield as he clearly has a problem playing in central defence against quick opponents. I was a bit shocked with the team selection but as I mentioned prior to the game the young players have always done well under Klopp when called upon.
