Trying to keep track of who’s available for selection at the moment is not the easiest. From what I can make out this is how the situation stands for the following players:
Henderson – Has flown to America for treatment on his foot. Likely to be out for another 2-3 games at least.
Lallana – Has also flown to America for treatment on his thigh. It’s been said he could be out for upto 5 more games although treatment may reduce that figure.
Mané – We know he’ll miss at least 1 game with a knee injury although there’s been numerous reports the situation is worse than initially thought. That number could rise.
Can – He was kicked around Anfield by Everton and as a result he didn’t train on Monday. Hopefully that was a precautionary measure rather than an injury.
Sturridge – Actually did full training with the squad on Monday. This doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll be available this week but if Mané is out for longer than we thought his availability in the near future could be a bonus.
For once our defensive setup looks complete, the only doubt being Lovren after his treatment by Everton although he appears to be fine. If Can was to be injured we could still function by rejigging Milner or Alexander-Arnold but we’re starting to run out of first-team options in midfield. With Origi looking sharper and Sturridge possibly near a return we might just cope in attack should Mané be out for a period. What is for certain, though, is that we really can’t afford many more injuries in attack and midfield.
