I won’t say much about yesterday’s final other than to say, like us all, i’m devastated. Really thought we would win it once it got to pens because we’ve such a good record in pen shoot out’s but it wasn’t to be. So we now face them again in the lge and we have a chance for a consolation prize by doing the double over them.

I think klopp might just rest a few players in this game and i’m thinking of lucas, sakho, firmino, hendo and studge. As far as i know lovren and skrtel are fit now so maybe klopp will start them. I’d bring allen in and Origi in place of studge and lucas, maybe too many changes but my team for this game would be,

migs

clyne  skrtel  lovren  moreno

Can         allen

milner   Origi       lallana

benteke

Still a strong team and it gives the other players a rest before the game against palace. Sorry for the short thread but i’m completely deflated after yesterday’s result as i’m sure we all are.

I guess it will be a matter of seeing who is ready for another game after 120 minutes on Sunday. At least City will have the same problem. I would be very doubtful about bringing back both Lovren and Skrtel when they have been out for so long, especially Skrtel who hasn’t played since Watford before Christmas. Lovren should be ok and maybe Sakho will have recovered, otherwise Lucas has earned another go at centre back.

I agree with resting Sturridge – I don’t think he would have played 120 minutes yesterday if we hadn’t had to use a sub to cover Sakho’s injury. He looked very tired in added time.

I agree with leaving out Firmino who has played a lot of games recently but I would leave in Coutinho who always seems to score against City.

A difficult one to predict. I remember when we lost to Chelsea in the 2012 FA Cup Final but beat them 4-1 a few days later. A repeat against City would be very nice!

Is that the sound of crickets chirping? The site is a ghost town after yesterday’s sad finish.
Hopefully the team shows a lot of character and responds after being kicked in the teeth.

I can see Origi rather than Benteke leading the line tonight but I have a feeling Benteke will start against Palace. Otherwise it seems we are back to anyone who can stand will be playing as has been the case for much of this season.

I agree with team selection.
but Moreno should stay resting and put Flanno in.
and maybe leave Benteke out, Origi up front. and some youngster to put in the midfield?

Sunday is behind us, there is a new day, new game so let’s focus all there.
we can only learn from past experience, you can not change what happened.
heads up lads.

Great block by Milner from their set piece and that was no handball… great call by the official. Half time and we lead 2-0 so let’s add more in the second half.

need to get another one, so City will be off.

Navas deserved the booking and Lallana needs to calm down. Doesn’t matter City aren’t happy with the current score so they are behaving like punks now

Arsenal, Tottenham, CIty losing the games.

Great game and result. We have done the double over them this season. We’re still a shoo in for the top four with 6 points behind City which are in fourth place… Next stop in London at Selhurst Park.

Just caught up with the match. From that tackle Flanno did on Sterling in the first few minutes City must’ve known they were in for a rough ride. Every one of our players looked so determined. Flanno and the supporters literally bullied Sterling off the pitch. It was nice to see Milner, Lallana and Origi get such a good response from the crowd, it was thoroughly deserved.

Wow…great game. This is the Liverpool I want to see constantly. Great pressing! We win the ball back easily! ManC look threatening only up to Lallana’s goal. After that we were on the roll. This match saw a different Firminho!
Every Redmen looked energetic and playing the gegenpressing game. How I hope we can have this kind of display at Wembley. Can we swap scores?
Lallana MOTM…different Lallana!
This is the Liverpool I want to see constantly. However ManC played an open game. We need to adjust our game accordingly for teams who park the bus and counter.

I am doing an early morning shift, woke up and saw the beautiful score line….. we did a double against them , I hope this hurts them more than they can think of… 😛

Can’t wait to see the highlights, strike that I will watch the full match… 🙂

I watched the game twice and it seemed like we had 12 men on the field. Outstanding win for team, now if we can just win two in a row!

Great result last night I think you could see Sunday hurt them as a group & the response was very promising, some great performance’s from basically everyone & Migs was a spectator for most of the game. The only down side was that it let the ***** get a whiff of top 4 but I’m always one for you make your destiny. On another note imagine pep going to city with no champions league!!!!

This match was completely different than the final ,Klopp had made 5 changes and LFC won and destroyed the Citizens 3-0 , I would say if Klopp had known it before he would line up and played the same team in the final ,but its easy to talk after the games, football is not a true science, everything could happened at anytime . Frankly said I would preferred to win the cup final rather than to beat them in the H/A championship games . LFC have 11 Match ,33points left to gain till the end of this season and if (I say if) they won all the remaining matches, with 41+ 33 = 74pts, Imo LFC COULD FINISH IN THE 4TH PLACE. We know all the top teams could loose points at any moment and if LFC play as they had done they could do it . LFC players must be more consistent and put some momentum in winning matches .LFC have some players who are not regular in their performance ,hopefully Klopp will sort out these problems and sell all of them who are not adapting and doing good. Klopp will got the opportunity to build his new team… Read more »

If you want to know how well Liverpool played just ask yourself whether you missed Sturridge and/or Coutinho? It’s not often this season I’ve found myself not yearning for either of these players being on the pitch. Klopp said something very obvious but very true after the game, he said the only times the players can take a rest from pressing is when they have the ball themselves. This is the key to playing like this week after week, not only do we have to continually pester the opposition when they have the ball but we also, and this is so important, have to keep possession of the ball so that we don’t have to be pressing all the time. So far this season we have neither been pressing consistently or retaining possession consistently which is why we can’t maintain performances like this. I’ll be interested to see if that changes after this match.

After a victory like this what I usually remember is the goals but I think on this occasion what will stick in the memory will be Flanno’s early tackle on Sterling and Kolo running Aguero off the ball when he was through on goal. Surely Flanno has booked himself a new contract. The difference between him and Moreno in their defensive duties is huge and the first duty of any full back is to defend. I’d just make one change for the rest of the season and play Clyne on the right and Flanno on the left. What a pity he has been left out of the Europa squad. Still, I guess it means Moreno will be fully focussed when we meet United if he wants to stay at Liverpool. Leaving him out earlier in the season produced a positive response (for a while).

We have 17 years of SG8 and almost the same with Carra… Strong local leaders of those lads that really showed what play for Liverpool FC really meant.

Flanno is another strong leader plus a local lad. I have him down on my cards for the future Captain of our team and a World Class player along the way. I look forward to 17 years or there about when he finally calls it a day in the Red shirt.

His challenge against Sterling was criticized as thuggery… the more you look at it… it was a hard man challenge with guts and glory… I didn’t see the foul in it. Besides all that I look forward seeing Flanno’s career when it progress and hopefully Smith and Randall are part of the future.
