Excellent result yesterday considering the team klopp put out against bournemouth, anybody else loving Ojo, talk about a star for the future, thought toure was excellent as well, ibe played very well too, all in all, a great performance by our fringe players, well done lads.

Now, onto the “friendly” derby, the one home game we probably most look forward too each season. I don’t think everton deserve to be where they are in the table, 11th, as they’ve played some great football this season but like ourself’s just didn’t get much luck, on their day everton can beat anybody but they have been in a bit of a slump recently so maybe it’s a good time to welcome them to anfield.

Onto my team for this game, although our fringe players were excellent yesterday, klopp will revert back to a normal 11 for the derby, Can and hendo are big losses but with allen looking reborn and milner playing well i think we’ll be ok without them. Great to see studge scoring again so how will klopp go in this one, studge or Origi with coutinho in behind them and lallana, firmino out wide, i think the usual back 4 will come back in so my team would be,

migs

clyne  lovren  sakho  moreno

milner  allen

firmino  coutinho   lallana

studge/Origi

I think that’s about the best team we have right now and up front i would be happy with either studge or Origi. It’s the big derby game and anything can happy but i feel we’re in a very good place right now and everton not so, i think we’ll carry on our winning streak here and with another home game against newcastle at the weekend we could put some real pressure on those teams above us in the lge.

UPDATE

Here’s some post match stats:

Those passing stats are superb, great to see so many shots on target too.

Sturridge, Ojo, Ibe and Kevin Stewart all did well against Bournemouth; hope they all feature regularly in the EPL league games next season!!

Glad you’re also a member of the Ojo fan-club Warrior. I saw this boy playing in an England youth match when he was 14 and the youngest member of the team. He came on a sub and ran the opposition ragged. He was still at MK Dons then and I was delighted when he joined us a couple of months later. He has improved every season and my only fear was that he is so naturally talented that he wouldn’t think he needed to work at his game. Thankfully that hasn’t happened and he is now deservedly getting games in the first team. A big star for the future.

I can’t argue with your team for the Everton match. Maybe Sturridge will get the call ahead of Origi as the latter has a slight back injury. Maybe best to save him for Newcastle.

I also agree that Everton have played well for most of the season and are in a false position. It won’t be an easy one but we are on a roll and I think we can do better than the usual draw against our “friends” from across Stanley Park.

Striker will depend on fitness. I don’t think either will get a full game to protect the both of them.
Hopefully we don’t need one of them to get a full game and bring the other on because we are chasing it

What happened to Flanno? was a bit surprised he didn’t play against bournemouth

sandiphulse

I think if he is going to play the juniors for the New Castle game, this should be the team against Everton, it will be interesting , how I wish the Europa League matches were played earlier than the PL, it would have been so easy picking the teams…. I think Flanno might not be match fit, we could probably see him in the Everton game…

This is the last club in the PL that Klopp has yet to face. And it’s at Anfield. And it’s after the legendary Dortmund second leg at Anfield.
The atmosphere should be electric enough to power that power large portions of England.

This game will not be easy, even with the toffees not having the best of times at this moment in time, but form goes out of the window at Derby games, as we have been witness to in the past, just hope we continue to produce our new found confidence and buoyancy. I was also wondering what as happened to flano, must be match fitness, he’s the type of player we need in a derby game, local lad who really knows what it means in the city

The good thing is lot of their key players are injured & I don’t think they want to play for their Manager, if they turn up for their fans it will be a good game or it will be a draw or another three points for us …

KLOPPite
Member

Not only do they have some injured, but don’t they play at Wembley on the weekend?
It used to be said that the Derby was their “cup game” because they didn’t have anything else. But this year their PL form is poor and the Cup is the salvation of their season. So it’ll be interesting to see who shows up

Hope Martinez puts the weekend Cup tie and his own survival as priority and play his youngsters and reserve side tonight. Derby bragging rights didn’t do Moyes any good and neither would it do for Martinez!

Huytonian

It’s usually hard to predict Derby matches but whatever team the managers put out we should win this one. I’m more concerned with Newcastle on Saturday as they have belatedly started to improve under Rafa.

And they seem to have some nobody pop up and hurt us of late. And they need it and will feel good taking a point (although they probably were robbed of two) from their game in hand vs City.

Dominated the half there, fancy big Sakho popping up for 2 goals in a week. I will not get carried away and say any more, last time I got the half time buzz was the saints game 🙁

Is it about time workmanlike players like Milner get the recognition they deserve? One of my small niggles with the PL is that if a player like Milner was a flamboyant overseas player he’d be getting plaudits for the number of assists he’s created this season. Alas, thus is the plight of ‘Boring’ James Milner…

i have him down for our player of the season

Could not agree more, his stats are fantastic. I’ve seen a few mentions even some here on Kopfans that he’s not good enough for Liverpool, crazy talk.

a deserved red… it was chop down challenge and that prick should be banned for the rest of the season… The damage on Origi is worrying now.

Jamie (admin)

A shocker that, devastated for Origi and the team on a whole, looks like a bad one.

lanoisseforp

I hope it’s not that serious but if he’s out for the rest of the season… it’s not good… plus Can is out also for the rest of the season

Superb interception and assist from Lucas!

They tried to kill Origi so we sent on Sturridge. That’ll teach ’em.

It’s been a long time since we ended up basically taking the p*** out of Everton in the derby.

lanoisseforp

7 minutes additional time… plenty enough to get another goal in and laugh at them.

I feel sorry for the remaining Everton fans, all three of them.

Shots in this game:

Everton – 3

Liverpool – 37 (that’s right, thirty-seven)

lanoisseforp

I lost count with our shots… I know there was a bucket load of them but 37 is wild.

lanoisseforp

That ends the game and the full-time score is 4-0… This win brings us even more up the table to seventh place and 2 points behind West Ham ( we still have a game in hand… rescheduled game against Chelsea) mathematically we can reach 69 points and win one of the places in the top four (barring Leicester)

The main worry is Origi horrific injury and I hope it’s not that serious… so fingers crossed. Next stop at home versus Newcastle and we owe them a good hiding from last December’s 2-0 defeat… Let’s beat them and also put them down into the Championship.

RedUncle

One of the Liverpool medical staff has said they think Origi has got a badly sprained ankle. Could’ve been much worse.

lanoisseforp

The question is how long will he be out and also how long will it to return to match fitness? We have an EL semi-final coming up in the course of a few weeks

Jamie (admin)

Let’s hope it just that, really gutted for the lad.

lanoisseforp

Off topic… here’s a thought four FA Cup semi-finalists played tonight… Three of them were defeated… Watford, Everton and Palace… sadly scum beat Palace 2-0 tonight and they are one of the FA Cup semi-finalists.. I hope Everton turns them over on the weekend… There’s a possibility there could be a re-run of the 1984 FA Cup final next month in 2016.

whatever happens in the finals, I want LVG to stay with the Manacs.. 😛

I’ve added some stats from tonight’s game to this post, just for a bit of bed time erotica 😉

RedUncle

When you read the stats you realise how much of a one-sided affair it really was. 0 shots on target, 0% shot accuracy – who do Everton think they are, Man United?

Jamie (admin)

Hahaha

sandiphulse

That was some dominance and good three points at this stage, I wonder if we have put the final nail in the coffin for R Martinez, I sincerely hope they win FA cup and keep Martinez as their Coach, so we can get some good players from their team 😛 , surely most of their players don’t want to play for him now.. heard that Origi’s injury is not too serious but he won’t play in the New Castle game, hopefully he will be available for the Europa … anyway Sturridge looks to be in a decent form, if Firminho and Ojo can also step up we should not be worrying for the rest of the matches.. I seriously hate that Everton player, freakn hooligan….

RedUncle

He grabbed hold of the badge on his shirt as he went off, which I thought was pretty low after he nearly broke someone’s leg. Show’s what a state Everton are in really.

Huytonian

I should be feeling euphoric today but that injury to Origi has taken the gloss off it. I’m no expert on injuries but it looked worse than Can’s and he’s out for the season so I’m not expecting to see Origi again this season. Terrible luck for the lad who was really starting to show his ability.

We are now down to one fit striker, Sturridge which is definitely a worry. I would expect Firmino to play a false number 9 against Newcastle so Sturridge is rested for Villareal. Does anyone know how near Benteke is to a return? He has been poor but surely with the team now creating so many chances even he could contribute some goals before the end of the season.

Huytonian
Member

To answer my own question I’ve just seen a report that Benteke is “nearing full fitness” – whatever that means.

Jamie (admin)

Haha my email notification said “Huytonian replied to Huytonian”. Thanks for the info, he might be needed if the Studge gets cropped again.

Huytonian

To answer the question I posed in the answer to my own question (I’m losing the plot here!) it sounds from Klopp’s press conference that Benteke should be ready to play some part at Swansea but not before.

DB-99

When Brendan signed Danny Ings and Benteke and Firmino, I thought to myself why would he need 2, potentially 3 more forwards when Sturridge was here and Origi was coming in.. Even though Sturridge’s fitness was always a sticking point, with us playing 4-3-3, there’d still be 3 or 4 players going for 1 spot. With all the injuries we’ve been suffering and now so many other teams desperate for strikers, it puts us in a good position to hopefully gain some money from player sales or at least recover Benteke’s cost.
