With an injury crisis at hand (up to 11 on the treatment table or recovering), will Klopp field a team of second stringers to try his luck or are there better options? Maybe time for the likes of Enrique to sweat a bit for his huge wages?! πŸ˜•

Warrior posted a blank blog, is he at loss for words or doesn’t he have a team sheet to work from

Think the post is spot on because I don’t really know what to write either….. Just chuck the kids on & see what happens.

agreed, gonna be one hell of a makeshift team tonight

Apparently it’s Ilori and Enrique at centre back if you believe the rumours. Exeter must be rubbing their hands. Enrique has done ok for the U21’s in that role (and so he should) but he has a tendency to do something daft every now and again. Ilori is seriously short of match time.

I’m really looking forward to this one to see how some of our youngsters cope in a competitive situation against seasoned pro’s. Yes it will be embarrassing if we lose and no doubt Klopp will be criticised for being disrespectful to the FA Cup by fielding a weak team but if anyone is to blame it’s the FA, Pl and the TV companies for the crazy match scheduling of the last few weeks. Although it will be a difficult one, I have a feeling that in adversity our lads will pull together and we will win. However the last thing we need is a draw and a replay.

agreed on all counts mate. The fixture pile up is crazy and something should be done for the sake of the game not just the £££.

Anyways let’s enjoy it, I’m looking forward to it also, even if we lose it should be very entertaining, exeter will surely go for it.

I think even with U21 team we should have no problem of promotion into next round.
but cup games are always different.
in any case, from some point of view, I understand JK. there is no winter break in England, many games in January, if you are in Carling and FA cup. all of this doesn’t help the recovery and fitness of players.
as I remember, few years ago, Arsenal had similar problems, lot of injuries, too many games, and all these things cost them trophies.
also, this program usually hurt english national team, as the players gets tired, not maybe physically, but in mind.
what do you think about 4-6 weeks off during winter period in english football?
would that help the players, expectations, attitude?
I think yes.

I agree on a winter break, in fact I think this topic deserves it’s own post, I’ll add something later on.

I have absolutely no idea what is going to happen tonight. Could be a miracle, could be a nightmare. I think I’ll watch through my hands…

This is a late team sheet, I was down to play centre mid but was struck down by enfiques curse and pulled a hammy playing my grandson on ps4

quite a bizarre turn of events but well done to Sinclair! Great take for his goal

Very good finish, impressed by Kent so fat!

So far I ment πŸ˜›

Sinclair seems to be playing close to Benteke. I always felt that Firmino needs to take up positions close to Benteke to support him and feed off balls from him.

lanoisseforp

Jesus Christ they scored again… from a corner kick

I think benteke has taken a new year resolution to be celibate,he hasn’t been in the box all game

that’s funny πŸ˜€

Half time probably came at the best point, Exeter were starting to get on top again. Ryan Kent has played well, I love the way his first instinct is to run at goal. It’s amazing we still struggle on crosses when our back line and keeper are completely different to the normal players.

HAMNUM8

As if we haven’t got enough to deal with without giving them gifts, that was awful from Bogdan!

lanoisseforp

Second half to begin

lanoisseforp

That was no penalty… a dive and well spotted by the officials

lanoisseforp

Benteke’s celibate resolution is taking effect… he missed a good chance to stick the “head”er in

We go on about giving the young players a game, but this game illustrates the level they are at at present

lanoisseforp

They are amazing… up against experienced professionals

Can’t quite work out why Kent was taken off so early, was one of our better attacking avenues, I thought.

lanoisseforp

maybe he was suffering from a “hamstring” ?

RedUncle

Dear God, don’t say that…

lanoisseforp

I wish I didn’t say it but Rodgers has never singed a physical player but all technicians… physical players rarely get hamstrings and I was being sarcastic. Klopp is a physical minded manager and he’s dealing with the **** at the moment

RedUncle
Member

It’s true to say Rodgers probably signed too many technicians but listening to one of Klopp’s former coaches at Dortmund say it was not unusual to have high numbers of injuries there at the same time one has to question what impact Klopp’s training methodology is having on the situation.

RedUncle

One thing to remember is that these, mostly, are not just young players but the majority have also been scattered around the country on loan. They’ve had hardly any time to build up any team understanding so it’s not really surprising they’ve been a bit all over the place.

lanoisseforp

Lallana and Lucas are due to make their make mark but it all depends what time Klopp brings em on together or his faith is with the kids to get the equalizer?

lanoisseforp

whoo whoo 2-2 Smith

lanoisseforp

Come on let’s go for the winner!!1

lanoisseforp

Smith’s injury is worrying… if he limps off then we’re down to 10 men

2-2 Replay coming up… impressive result by the kids…well done lads

HAMNUM8

Can’t grumble at that, let’s not forget this was a team thrown together from Tuesday but credit to Exeter & it gives them a few quid with a replay.

RedUncle

The draw was probably the fairest result, all factors taken into consideration. At least in the replay we won’t be playing on porridge and hopefully should have some first teamers back. Thought Teixeira, Smith and Kent were all plus points who could possibly help our first team through the injury crisis.

Huytonian

That must have been quite an education for those of you who don’t watch the U21 games! I thought the young lads did really well without exception. I was rude about Enrique earlier but I’ll give him some credit especially as he is so short of game time. But for me our best player was Brad Smith. Ok he got a few crosses wrong but it wasn’t the easiest pitch. His was an all energy performance and he deserved his very sharply taken equalising goal. Special mention also to Conor Randall on the other side who also had an excellent match.

I don’t think we need to worry too much about the extra game as I expect another young side to be put out but maybe with one or two more first teamers.

DB-99
Member

Tbh I’m not disappointed about the result. We have some really good youngsters and hopefully they will develop into top players. The replay will be a good opportunity to play again.

RedUncle
Member

I must admit that when I saw the team sheet I felt I’d be more than happy with a replay at Anfield. The team that played had so little experience and preparation that to expect them to play like a Liverpool first team would’ve been highly unreasonable. The youngsters did as well as could be expected on a pitch that was so against our style of play. Most importantly they kept us in the Cup.

I hated the Friday evening scheduling but at least we can now sit back over the week-end and enjoy watching other big clubs embarrassing themselves!

Looking back at last night’s game and it was very impressive when most of our regulars weren’t available except for Benteke, Enrique and 2 unused subs Lucas, Lallana. Not to forget Klopp only had a few days with Ilori, Kent and Ojo. Klopp in fact is a fantastic manager and got a 2-2 draw away from home in the third round of the FA Cup especially against a hungry League Two team. Overall the game itself was stressful, entertaining and enjoyable and 4 goals were pretty good especially their corner kick and the last time I saw one like that when King Kenny scored for us. Not to forget the banter from us on this blog message πŸ˜€ Klopp will develop these young players into superstars in years to come and some of them will become part of his team. Daniel Sturridge will have to take notice of Sinclair and should be worried about this young fella because someday Klopp will favor over instead. The most important piece of news this week that Klopp is going to stop the young players from going out on silly loans and will keep them at Anfield to continue their development. It does make… Read more »

So the mancs got a late-late fergie time penalty which frees them from another round of time-consuming and potentially injury-inflicting replay?! πŸ™

Trouble with Sinclair he as the same agent as sterling, and has as not agreed new terms, so expect him to go on a free, with nominal fee, don’t need players like him if they don’t want to wear our shirt and give it their all. Get him gone and look for a young player who wants to be here,
