Here’s what our squad looks like for the foreseeable future. We’ve had weaker, we’ve had stronger, but on the whole it looks pretty balanced. It’s now up to Klopp to work his magic.

Not too sure how i feel about that squad to be honest, early days as yet so maybe after 10 games we’ll have a clearer picture.

Hopefully Klopp and Sakho can somehow reconcile their differences. Klavan and Sakho can play LB. Matip looks like a great CB. Clyne has played badly so far this season which has escaped criticism because we have no backups and he’s normally so reliable. A solid tough tackling defensive midfielder and fullbacks are desperately needed to balance the team. Whether we do business in Jan will be interesting to see. Our attack is fine except we lack proper wide players but those are such a rarity these days and no-one really plays that way anymore. We keep the ball on the floor most of the time as well so we can survive. For me, the key to any success we going to have this season rests on the fitness on some players – Clyne, Sturridge, Origi, Can and relying on those players coming back, Ings, Lucas, Gomez and Karius being fit and firing at their best form. It’s a huge gamble on Klopp’s part, because the holes in the team were glaringly obvious and the money was there to spend.

An interesting article on Sky highlights the spending this window. We spent about 70M(6th highest), had a highest received for players sold(85M), made a profit of 15M(only Soton higher with 20M profit). Many are going to knock the club and FSG but I think it’s just an indication of the absolute **** we’ve been spending on and the accumulation of sub par squad players. The amount received could be way higher if we got money for Balotelli, sold Markovic, Illoei Wisdom and Lucas. I like how the club is balancing out the squad and which is going to make room for quality players and eventually balance out the team, hopefully. That being said, I still think Klopp should’ve bought a LB and CDM. Many fans want a striker but I feel that Ings is going to surprise quite a few and Sturridge will put his injury problems behind him.

Totaly agree about Ings mate but how does he get a run of games if the others stay fit and are playing well. Ings is a natural goal scorer and i think klopp should give him a run but with no european football he’s basicaly going to be relying on our other strikers to pick up injuries in order to get a chance, i’d love him to get a chance and if he does he’s gotta grab it with both hands.
