After scraping past burnley at home, we now visit city at the Etihad and you would think a much more difficult game but we know this liverpool team by now, they’ll all show up, hopefully, and get at least a point.

I don’t think klopp has much choice but to go with the same team as against burnley, which i’ve no big issue with but when you look at our bench it is shocking really for a club the size of LFC. There’s no fresh injury worries as far as i can see so i reckon it’s as you were for this game.

                                                                                   clyne    matip   klavan    milner

                                                                                      Can      lallana   wijnaldum

                                                                                        mane    Origi    coutinho

I’m not sure if we’re going to be facing a wounded animal out to bounce straight back after they were knocked out of the CL or if they’re confidence will be on the floor and we may be able to take full advantage of that, either way, it’s a very tough game for us, city have been playing very well lately, despite their exit from the CL. A point from this game i feel would be a good result, all 3 would be fantastic, obviously and would keep us right in the mix for a CL spot, best of luck RedMen.

Yes, they are wounded, hopefully firmino is available at least on the bench, we need coutinho for this game badly, he always performs well against city, three points will make our life easy, as we still need to scrap through lot of matches

I’ve been looking through the latest training pics and Firmino’s there, laughing and joking, so hopefully that’s a sign he’ll be ready against City. If we get three points in this game it’ll be a real achievement – we’re not at Anfield, they’ve got a better starting eleven and a better bench than us. If Coutinho was in form, and the right Can turned up, I’d be more confident but as it is, on paper, I think it’s going to be a big ask, and that’s not even taking into account their Champions League exit.

I’ve read Origi as well as Firmino is a doubt so its to be hoped at least one of them is fit to start or we will really have problems. I guess the other question is Lovren or Klavan for partnering Matip? Lovren played well for the U23’s against Chelsea but they had an inexperienced team who rarely tested him. Grujic played well in that game so may be an option off the bench.

There are numerous reports swirling around regarding who is fit and who isn’t, it’s a very confusing picture, but I’ve seen pics of Firmino training and a report saying Klopp is happy for him to go straight back into the team so I’m very hopeful that’s the case. I’ve also seen pics of Origi training but no confirmation he’s fully fit so his involvement is more doubtful. If Firmino starts it increases the chance Coutinho will play well so any positive news about him is certainly appreciated.

I also read a more positive report on Firmino. If both Firmino and Origi were to be ruled out I would move Mane to the centre and bring Alexander-Arnold into right sided attack. He’s in brilliant form in the U23’s and would have the energy to track back to help Clyne nullify Sane.

Yeah, some of the online analysts have suggested playing Mane in the centre as well but I must admit I don’t think I’ve seen him play as a centre forward so I can’t really comment. Likewise, I haven’t seen TAA in a wide attacking role although I know John Aldridge thinks he’s capable of playing there.

First things first, why were the City fans booing Milner? He was one of their most committed players when he was with them and he only left because he couldn’t get games. The short memories of some fans infuriates me at times and I was particularly pleased when Milner put that penalty away. As for the game, if we’re being honest either team could’ve won it so a draw was probably fair. Michael Oliver’s decisions remain a mystery to me though, you’d have thought by now the FA would allow him to take his guide dog on the pitch with him. Toure should’ve gone in the first half and numerous clear penalty shouts for either side went unrewarded. In fact, a number of players were probably lucky to finish that game. It wasn’t really the match for our four best finishers to get collective amnesia but Coutinho, Firmino, Lallana and Mane could’ve probably continued shooting until the cows come home, it just wasn’t going to happen today. When Lallana missed a shot my dead gran could’ve put away I realised the gods weren’t rooting for us. Can did very well going forward and defending, I thought, and again Mignolet did… Read more »

It was a tense and great game many would say it was a fair result with a few scares from both ends. City have the depth but we had the heart and I was impressed how we played today… I am in the middle of nitpicking how Lallana failed to connect the final pass (my foul language was unreal at the time) and shoot for goal… If he had connected it… their keeper saves it or hits the post then it would have been fine for me.

Mané gets better every time I see him in the red shirt and this guy is amazing and deserved his MOTM award from this game. Earning a point from a depleted squad like ours against full bunch of mercenaries turned out to be a great result and my final note to this post… Milly was so **** cool when he netted that penalty (due to booing from the plastics) and I am glad he’s on our team… he will go down as one of the players that shook the Kop 😀

Next game is against Neverton… so can the home crowd sing Merry Christmas, Neverton 😛

It was an exciting game as both teams went for the win. The result was a fair one as City started and ended on top while we dominated the middle of the game. Can’s performance must give Klopp something to think about. Does he bring back Henderson into that position or play both Can and Henderson and drop Coutinho?
