EL time again and what a draw we got against our hated rivals. We’re in a good place right now with a few wins and good performances and hopefully we’re turning the corner as in we seem to be getting some consistency going and at just the right time for the EL.

The team for this game almost picks itself i feel but the beauty of it is, now we have a strong bench no matter who starts. I would have started flanno all day long ahead of moreno but he can’t play in the EL so moreno will start this game. Other than that i can’t see many changes from the palace game, my team for this match would be,

migs

clyne   lovren  sakho  moreno

Can

milner      hendo

firmino    sturridge    coutinho

Which leaves the likes of lallana, Origi, benteke, toure and allen on the bench and that’s a strong bench imo. I think we’ll get past this tie, we seem to be getting some revenge lately on teams that have turned us over and as this shower have done the double on us in the lge how sweet would it be to knock them out of the EL. Avoiding the away goal is an absolute must, obviously, even going to scumtrafford with a 0-0 would be nice but that away goal has to be avoided, best of luck redmen.

I think your team is the one that Klopp will put out Warrior. My only query is whether Henderson should be rested. Clearly the injury he is carrying is affecting his form and confidence. However, it would be a gamble to leave out the captain for this one. If that happened Coutinho could drop back and Lallana could take his place further forward. Or we could play a diamond midfield with both Sturridge and Benteke up front.

I get myself in a right state every time we face these *******. I expect them to come to Anfield bore the **** out of everyone & score off of someone’s **** & get a lucky win, having said that if we approach the game as we did against city last week, I can’t see them matching our work rate & passion. We need to stop them from the first whistle with their boring possession, square passing football. I do believe van seagul will play a patient counter attacking game as it is a 2 legged affair but I just feel if we ruffle their feathers from the off we can disrupt their game plan. We owe this lot big time & I hope we can do it by knocking them out of Europe.

Well said everyone and I agree we need to swap either Hendo or Milner for Lallana, he is so much better at pressing, certainly for the home leg, we need to get about these scumbags right from the word go and shut their scumbag fans up as well. This is the first time we have faced them with almost a full squad. I wouldn’t have a problem starting Origi as the lad has been a real handful for defences since he’s been back. Come on redmen no excuses we just must win these two games. Pleeeeeeeeease.

I’m not as worried about Henderson’s situation as some seem to be. Can is increasingly looking to get forward in games so there isn’t the need for Henderson to play as advanced as he has done. At this point there isn’t a problem with him playing in a deeper position and spraying those long passes he does so well while Can plays the more advanced role in the pair. As Henderson’s fitness improves, which it should, the roles can be rethought.

As for the United match, the main aim is not to do something stupid in the first leg. The atmosphere should be pretty charged in the stadium and I’m a little concerned about having Lovren and Moreno at the back in these circumstances. There’s an argument for playing Kolo just to add a calmer head. Apart from that I agree with the side above that has more than enough attacking potential.

Having the first leg at home often means teams pack it in trying to prevent that away goal. I hoop we go after it though instead because right now I think we are a better team (barring DeGea).
And the advantage of it this way is we’d get an extra 30 minutes to score an away goal at OT (I believe although I know some of those rules have changed somewhat)

Realspanishred

If we only try to avoid the away goal we will lose this, we need to really get at them from the first whistle and stop them playing their **** football. As KLOPPite says we are the better team and we need to show them how bad they really are. I’m ******** myself but I think we will win at least 2-0.

I would look at playing Brad smith instead of Moreno, as the lad as played well when he as been on for us, he is better at defending than Moreno and seems to have more nous about him when attacking. And he can cross a good ball into the penalty area as well

I agree with Brad Smith playing instead of Moreno, they have lot of injuries, quietly frankly nobody knows how they would perform, the kids in their team move freely, just watch out for them, when we create our chances make sure we score, that should take care of it, I remember Klopp was very pleased with the draw, hopefully we will something special on the pitch … if we have to win the Europa , the tough matches have begun starting from Man U… common reds let’s do this YNWA….

It’s important we keep 11 men on the field even if we did play better with 10 on Sunday. These matches are very volatile and often produce red cards. Play with passion but use your brains should be the message. (That might be a problem for Moreno!)

Realspanishred

It seems they don’t have as many injuries as first reported. Svengali has said big players back for Liverpool game, not that it will matter we will still beat them. Regarding red cards the ref is Spanish they don’t funk about when it comes to red cards. Hopefully Suarez has had words and told him he will pay if he gives a red to us. Lol

I’ve just read this about the ref:

‘Liverpool v Manchester Utd to be refereed by Carlos Velasco Carballo of Spain. 6 reds and 63 yellows in the last 10 games he’s done.’

Crikey…

Sounds like that choice was well thought out then………..

I’ve read Milner is ill so the team could be the same as for Palace but with Clyne, Coutinho and Sturridge in for Flanno, Milner and Origi.

Rooney, Lingaard, Young, Schweinsteiger and probably Jones are out for United.

Yahoo just noticed it’s live on Setanta Ireland and the spurs game. I thought I was going to have to watch it on some crappie stream. Yoohoo now I’m really excited if I wasn’t before. Come on redmen do them good and proper, finish the tie at Anfield. YNWA

De Gea saves em again jeese and we should be 3-0 up

lanoisseforp

That should be 4-0 now Lallana’s shot was saved

KLOPPite

There should be a massive investigation and penalties levied for the botching of the DeGea transfer to Real Madrid this last summer

lanoisseforp
Member

That ends the first half. Scum were poor and should have been 4-0 down but were lucky because they have the best player in their team and that is De Gea. We need to kill this game off in the second by banging a few in to make up the missed chances from the first half. Come on Red men!

Realspanishred

I cant believe the scumbags are still in this, if it wasn’t for that Walker degaya they would and should have been dead and buried. We will need the same effort second half. Please don’t let them score redmen they once again deserve nothing from this.

KLOPPite

We definitely need to score at least one more to take away their luck factor

HAMNUM8

Same old story can’t finish these tools off & they’re so lucky to be in the tie still let alone the game. We will only have ourselves to blame if we let them back in this. The vile cnuts singing murders when they started losing ******* vermin!

Huytonian

I’ve just remembered why we lost the league game. It wasn’t Rooney’s goal so much as DeGea’s saves. Desperately hope he isn’t the difference again. More of the same in the second half lads but please watch for Fellaini pulling on to the shoulder of Moreno for crosses. A mis-match if ever there was one. Also Sakho is a bag of nerves – calm down big man!

lanoisseforp
Member

Second half starts they have not got one shot on target and lets hope it’s not a smash and grab like they did in Anfield a few months back.

KLOPPite

DeGea shows you the importance of a world class keeper. We are playing them off the pitch and should be 3-4 goals to the good but only have a scored pen to show for it.

RedUncle

Can’t see all 22 players finishing this match, somehow.

KLOPPite

No. Not the way this ref likes to be quick to the book. And there are a few who aren’t making it easy for him either.
Fellaini needs to be in the book in the next foul

lanoisseforp

Unluck the count… great shot though

KLOPPite

Woulda like one of Migs fists to punch that cross like it did, and the other to accidentally get Martial.
Nothing dirty. Just old school keeping

About time mophead got booked

HAMNUM8

Need to get a grip slowed the pace a bit maybe need benteke or Origi up top looks like klopps is giving the midfield an extra hand with Allen coming on!

KLOPPite

Alright they’ve made changes and we’ve weathered their first fifteen of the second.
Let’s keep our heads, defend in packs and go get another goal.
Looks like Joe Allen coming on for that same thought with their switch to 3-5-2 to give us a little more counter to it in the midfield

lanoisseforp

Allen replaces Sturridge

It was a clever sub putting Allen on, meant we regained possession again. Apart from that miss Henderson has been pretty epic. He’s won possession back about a dozen times so far.

HAMNUM8

Stay focused & see it out!

lanoisseforp

Mophead should be red carded for that challenge

lanoisseforp

Origi replaces Firmino… Klopp wants another goal to kill the tie

KLOPPite

When does Fellaini pick up his second? He’s had three fouls since his booking at least, and one was just a high boot

Realspanishred

So much for this ref giving red cards Spanish football must be really rough. Felinie deserved a red about 3times after his first yellow. We must see this through now. No messing at old toilet. Yeah heah my sickness has gone now happy days for a great weekend.

KLOPPite

Come on Moreno. Good play to intercept but then be smart enough to hold it in the corner

Realspanishred

Best team won and deserved much more. Get in YNWA

lanoisseforp

That ends the game and we lead the tie by 2-0 even though we should have been 7-0 up. We head to old toilet next week and hope we’ll kill the tie off there. Well done lads and our next stop is old toilet.
