Welcome to a brand new season, and a brand new main stand!!!!
Our first visitors of the season (due to main stand construction causing the Burnley match to be moved to Turf Moor (less said about that the better, eh?!) were Claudio Ranieris’ defending champions, and biggest surprise packets since the invention of the surprise packet, Leicester City!!!
Yes, the Tinkermans’ boys were coming to Anfield. Mahrez, Vardy, Albrighton, Drinkwater et al, were hoping to make it two wins in a row against us, after the 2-0 mauling that they handed to us last season (thanks, in no small part, to that incredible Jamie Vardy volley!!), on their way to the title.
The question was, would they come and spoil our party, or would we get the perfect start to life with our new main stand?
Well. Here are the pix. And their are some V. Special guests to look out for, as well (not as many as the Watford match, last season, but still….)
So good to be back home again!!!!!
Back where it belongs. HOME. Justice at last. RIP96-GBNF.x

Fancy lettering but still no queue jump!!!
Nope. Still my block!!!
Me and the legend that is Grandad!!!!
A new season finally gets underway at Anfield!!!
A Leicester corner, and last seasons’ player of the season to take.
The new main stand dwarfing the KOP
My view from the 3rd row
Corner to the reds
Goooooooal! 1-0 to the mighty REDS!!! Firmino on 13mins!
Another Leicester corner
And then back down to the other end
Saido Mane, the hardest working man on the pitch, scores to make it 2-0!!!
Half time and the Reds are 2-1 to the good after Lucas’ only mistake of the game gifts Jamie Vardy a goal.
Your matchday programme, commemorating the official opening of our new main stand.
2nd half gets underway, (and photographer gets indaway!!!)
Celebrating Lalas’ gorgeous goal!! 3-1 REDS!!!
Firmino puts it beyond doubt with a second goal and Liverpools’ 4th!!!
And there goes the final whistle (forgive the blurred pic. Celebrating, you see!)
A well earned three points against the defending champs, which would put the REDS into the top half of the table, ahead of the visit to Cr*pford Bridge, on the Friday. And the thrill of a new season back HOME!!!
Now, it was time to head off to my actual home, as I was due to start work at 11 that night!
But, as always, there was still time for a bit of tartin’!
Me with Phil Babb, who I missed last time he was at Anfield.
Oh, and me with one of our summer signings, Ragnar Klavan!!!!!
The mothership looking majestic against the darkening evening sky.
Well, that’s the first home game of the season out of the way. Due to financial restraints, there won’t be a tour of the Hull match, but do look out for tours of the games against West Brom and the SCUM!!!
Until then, as always, YNWA. Always. RIP96-GBNF. Justice at last.x
