The game this weekend was a crazy one. 10 shots on target for both teams and 9 goals. Our defense is hemorrhaging goals from set pieces. With injuries to Skrtel and Lovren we have Toure and Sakho and Caulker to rely on. Against Sakho, I mainly noticed Sakho putting himself about and trying to win headers and win the ball. I have a feeling that it’s Clyne and Moreno that’s weakening our defense. Both are so focused on getting forward that our defense is so easily stretched and Lucas doesn’t have the legs to cover the line. Can is by no means whatsoever a defensive midfielder. I haven’t seen him covering for the defensive but he makes great driving runs forward. I’m hoping with Flanno back and Smith they can give moreno and clyne competition. I’m really concerned with Jordan Ibe. His delivery into the box is so poor, he’s very 1 dimensional in that he runs towards the defender, instead of getting a yard and putting the ball in but overall his decision making has been wrong consistently. The lallana sub had changed the game. I haven’t seen good wing play from Ibe, perhaps he could play as a forward and see how that works out for him. I compare him to Sterling and Sterling, I hate to admit, showed alot different qualities, crossing, dribbling and finishing and really showed improvement which is a stark contrast to Ibe. Benteke has been too close to defenders and hasn’t been running behind or stretching defenders. Many fans have a go at him but we don’t play to his strengths. It’s very much a 2 way commitment where others need to deliver quality and he will make an effort to get on the end of them. Mignolet has been given 5 year deal and to be honest I feel like he is a poor keeper. We need a top keeper and I’m not convinced he’s the right quality we need. Arsenal is a good example of what a good keeper can do. At the end of the day, Klopp has alot to do. What gives me a bit solace is that he has the first and last say for transfers and us fans know who we can praise or hold responsible which really wasn’t the case with Rodgers.
