I’ve been very impressed with Sheyi Ojo since he returned from his loan spell at Wolves.  He’s always had silky skills and great pace but he has added a lot to his game in recent months.  For a start he must have been working hard in the gym as he is no longer the gangly teenager but is an incredible physical specimen for an 18 year old and has a strength he lacked before.  He also seems to have grown a couple of inches in the last year and has started to win high balls.  He has terrific pace and I reckon he’s even faster than Sterling.  Another asset is that he is two footed so can go either side of a defender with confidence and is scoring goals with both feet.

Talking of goals he scored his first hat-trick last night against Middlesbrough.  It’s something he needed to to add to his game but he is now doing this.  Who can forget his finish against Exeter, but he curled one in last night from the other side with his right foot.

My main doubt about Ojo has been whether he had the mentality to become a top player (he always had the ability).  He is so naturally gifted, but gave the impression of being a very laid-back lad.  This is no longer the case.  He seems to have developed a more steely attitude and appears really focussed.   He’s also brave.  He gets fouled a lot but picks himself up and gets on with his game.

Its going to be hard for him to break into the first team this season with most of our forwards fit but if he maintains his current form Klopp can forget about buying a winger in the summer (I don’t count Goetze as a winger) as this lad will surely blossom next season.

Defo 1 for the future and I hope Klopp gives him the chance to show his mettle before the season is out. Would be great to see him as a regular starter next season!!

Yeah, no doubt he has all the attributes to be a top player and hopefully that’s with us. Not sure we’ll see him again in the first team this season but next season i reckon we’ll see a lot of him, especialy if he keeps scoring hattricks 😯 😯

I think summer preseason will determine his shorterm future.
And Klopp doesn’t seem to be one for loans so he will impress and get time probably in League Cup, or stay in youth teams here

I can’t forget that goal against Exeter either it was pure class. I’ve not seen a lot of him but have heard only good comments about him. Good luck to him and hopefully we see a lot of him next season, if not this.

Defo future player for us if he keeps up the progress

Hopefully he gets the opportunities, as soon as possible, it would really hurt us if he leaves and performs well elsewhere especially if he gets into a PL team.

Thoughts on this revolve around other youngsters like Sterling, Ibe and Sinclair.
It’s an incredible balancing act the club has to walk with youth between bringing them along to test their growth and give them a shot, versus them thinking they have now earned their time in the first team and then push for big bucks once they get it or push for a move “for first team opportunities elsewhere”

Well they either want to play for the club or they don’t, if they don’t sell um make some money, then bring the next crop through, you will always get some that will stay, especially when we start winning trophies again, which won’t be long now
