The less said about our last game the better so i’ll move right on to our lge cup semi with stoke tomorrow night. I think the team, as in the last few games, basicaly picks itself due to injuries, i would like to see some of the younger players get a run out, tex and smith to name but two but its a big game so they’ll be on the bench most likely. Still no sturridge, Origi or hendo, big losses for us but there you go. I think the only ? is about whether ibe starts and who do you drop, could be any of either firmino, lallana or coutinho, they’ve all be woeful but i do want ibe to start, he offers more than the other 3 at the moment, like i said, the team picks itself really,

migs

clyne   sakho    lovern  moreno

Can    lucas

ibe     coutinho    lallana

benteke

Although stoke were beaten at the weekend like ourselfs their a really tough team to play, especialy at the britania, walters and shariqi are in really good form for them right now as well as some others so we’re in for a tough night i feel considering how bad we’ve been playing lately even with a couple of wins under our belts, best of luck with this one lads, your going to need it.

If the game we don’t want to talk about is anything to go by, there should be a few of them dropped for this Smith for Moreno Tex for Firmino and Lallana for Cou. It would serve them right if they get dropped.

I agree mate it’s doing my head in watching how lazy some of them are.

Everyone’s been hating on Benteke but he’s scored the winning goals and has got 2 in 3 games which isn’t bad. I’d change our approach tactically. Tell Coutinho to stop shooting, Firmino to play close to Benteke to get onto knockdowns, second balls and flicks and tell Moreno, Clyne, Lallana and Coutinho to get past the first man and whip the ball in. We dwell on the ball too often waiting for **** to happen around us. If this doesnt work, go with Lallana, Firmino and Coutinho upfront and 3 in midfield. Lucas as DM, Allen to move into space and receive the ball, turn and start attacks, much like how he did when he first came to us and Can to play the box to box role.

Stoke City will be no pushovers as Chelsea has found out. They have a formidable stocky rugby-type physique players in midfield like Shaqiri, Adam, Afellay, Whelan and Ireland; just not the type which light-weight Allen and Lucas Leica can take the ball off. Plus in-form forwards like 6 foot 4 Arnautovic and Krkic’ may likely give Clyne another nightmarish game if we do not prepare well for the crosses and set pieces

I would really like to see Brad Smith play and Texiera but Klopp would love to win a cup, so I don’t think he will take chances with young lads sadly, but the problem is if you try win 1-0 against a team who are still a physical team who are also quick in attacking now, you end up loosing 3-1 , so go and attack , believe in the youngsters and give the lads who are playing too much some rest, at least we will have an excuse that we tried something different and avoided further injuries to starting XI players..

I think it’s more likely the youngsters will play against Exeter on Friday (4 games in 10 days is crazy). The question for me is does Benteke start or should Firmino play as false 9, a plan that worked against City but not at Watford. I’ve no idea what would be best here – I’ll leave it to Klopp. Lallana should return if only because he was rested on Saturday but Ibe should keep his place. I would like to see Coutinho played central not stuck out on the left. All in all I make Stoke favourites over the 2 legs but we have a habit of winning the hard ones and losing the so called easier ones so who knows?

It’s simple for me tonight’s game if we’re not going to turn up like Saturday & roll our sleeves up & be prepared to fight for the right to have one foot in the final then I see us getting beat. The last two games were quite abysmal to be fair & only the fact Sunderland were so poor we scraped a win. Stoke will not give us a second tonight so our passing, aggression & willingness to go that extra mile for the club & team mates needs to be bang on. This is a cup semi final (1st leg) it shouldn’t need a team talk.

Use your phone and go to the BBC home page and the live feed on the football section is pretty good and keeps up to date every minute of the game.

Not looking forward to this one at all. I am normally optimistic but West Ham knocked the wind out my sails. I can’t see anything but a Stoke win. The good thing for me is I will be without the Internet for a few weeks as I am moving house. Hope I’m wrong see you all in a few weeks good luck redmen do us proud, effort is all we ask.

Liverpool: Mignolet, Clyne, Toure, Lovren, Moreno, Lucas, Can, Allen, Lallana, Coutinho, Firmino. Subs: Bogdan, Milner, Benteke, Brannagan, Ibe, Smith, Randall.

After somehow choking through that starting lineup with Toure and Allen in there with Lucas. That bench is depressing. Brannagan, Smith, Randall are there out of necessity rather than being chosen on merit alone. I don’t know how Clyne, Moreno and Can are still standing after the load they’ve been going through practically 3 games a week since September! Luckily they have that young blood. Hopefully we’ll see the Lallana, Firmino, Coutinho of City and Chelsea rather than Watford.

Superb Save by Migs… first half ends…. I am concerned about the second half and they have a stronger bench than us and we have used 2 substitutes already. Possible chance Big Ben will get a roll call somewhere in the later stages of the game.

A real concern with our injuries at the moment. Remember Rodgers used to give the team more rest days and Sturridge used to get 2 I think? Klopp is definitely training more but the long term injuries to Ings, Gomez, Hendo and Sturridge left our squad a bit depleted initially. Even Benteke was out and with so many games and less players to take on the load the effect is compounded and it’s taking it’s toll on the squad. I suppose a good chance for our youngsters and an even better reason for the club to dip into the market this window.

Something is wrong with the system here… too many injuries and we just have hit the half way mark in the season

HAMNUM8

That was 100 times better well done Redmen good first half. Gutted about the injuries. A good chat from klopp at half time & a bit more organisation & we should see it through, it would be a fantastic result considering the circumstances. 2nd half to go yet so let’s keep the momentum going.

Considering we’ve ended up something of a bodged together team we’re still playing more like a cohesive unit than we did against West Ham. A little worried what’ll happen when Lucas starts to tire at centreback, although if everyone continues to press as they have done we may well make it to the end alright.

lanoisseforp

Stoke made their first change Walters comes on and he’s a real handful with a decent goal scoring record against us

Far better performance but can we keep it up given the changes. Ron when are you next in Liverpool?
