Various reports today say that Teixeira is close to joining Liverpool.

From Sky Sports:

TEIXEIRA WANTS LIVERPOOL’

Alex Teixeira has told Shakhtar Donetsk he wants to join Liverpool, according to Sky sources.

Sky sources also understand Liverpool have made a £25m bid for the Brazilian midfielder, who has attracted interest from Chelsea.

Teixeira is said to count compatriots Phillipe Coutinho and Lucas Leiva as two of his best friends in the game and would become Jurgen Klopp’s second signing of the January transfer window if a deal can be completed before the February 1 deadline.

Klopp, who secured the signature of Serbia midfielder Marko Grujic earlier this month, refused to comment when asked about the potential arrival of Teixeira at Anfield last week.

Sky sources understand Teixeira’s representatives are currently waiting for a response from Shakhtar as they attempt to push through a move to Liverpool.

Like always with me mate, when i see the guy with an LFC scarf above his head, holding up our jersey or a pic of him signing his contract, then i’ll believe he’s joined, until then, salt and pinch spring to mind although i will admit the signs look good for getting this player in.

I know what you mean mate, it’s looking good but I can’t help but think back to when we nearly signed Willian from Shaktar, let’s hope Ayre can agree the fee this time. Be a shame to see him in a Chelsea shirt.

I don’t mean to be pessimistic jay but we’ve been let down so many times before for various reasons and when it’s ayre trying to get a deal done it dosen’t instill much confidence with me, i suppose it’s henry that writes the checks so i would imagine he has the final say, lets hope he’s forgotten past mistakes in the transfer department and that he has 100% trust in klopps judgement.

Let’s hope the LFC trio of Coutinho, Leiva and Firmino will be the pull factor that persuades Teixeira to sign for us!!

Jamie don’t do this to yourself mate we’ve all been here before several times I’m with warrior, when I see him with an lfc scarf at Melwood I will jump for joy.

Hopefully they take a chance with Texiera, Hopefully the negotiations will workout , if money was not a concern with the owners, it would have been confirmed by now

Ayers don’t seem to be able to negotiate very well, we have lost a lot of good players in the past, when he was trying to get them to sign. You need some one with charisma, a personality. Funny King kenny got players in. They should let Klopp deal with the player, and they would insist on being let go, to come us. We spent £32m on Big Ben so what’s the problem with a few more quid for this guy, who on the face ot it has pace and movement which he uses in the right areas, at the right times. And he as looked good in his European cup games.

Apparently the sources says, the deal is done mate , we have to wait till LFC officially announces it …. thank god Pato did not happen…. but Texiera will be a good transfer if it happens

The Texeira deal looked dead in the water this morning but latest reports are more positive – a structured deal so we only pay the full price if he meets performance targets. I’m not getting too excited yet. There have been too many disappointments especially in the January windows and deals with Ukrainian clubs are notoriously tricky.

Still no confirmation or denial, lots of rumor, just have to wait and see

The Mail suggests we’re still some way off Shakhtar’s valuation, so let’s just wait for the next development…

3rd offer turned down going by sky sports news, 37million euro, is that about 31-32 sterling?? nearly sure a 35million sterling offer would get him in, this dosen’t look good now, of course we’ve been here before so nobody should be surprised.

January transfer window is seldom known for good value so don’t be surprised if LFC prepares for the summer move.

So this is a case closed for Teixeira this January. No late 3rd bids for Alex, esp when he’s nursing a hamstring which means he’ll make no immediate impact to LFC even if he joins. Come to think of it, hamstrings seem to plague us even as we make inquiries:
“Teixeira pulled his hamstring soon after Liverpool made a bid. This is not a joke. Repeat: this is not a joke,” reported Russian football writer Artur Petrosyan.
