While stopper Peter Gulacsi might have struggled to get any game time during his 5 years at LFC, he’s now fast becoming a household name in Germany with Bundesliga leader Leipzig unbeaten and achieving 7 clean sheets in 17 games (more than Loris + Mignolet added together), also pretty much eclipsing the world’s highest rated goalie in Manuel Neuer of Bayern Munich. Many players who have struggled to show their talents during Brendan’s/Klopp’s days are now wowing crowds elsewhere including Suso starring for Milan, Balotelli dazzling for Nice, Aspas for Celta de Vigo, Benteke with 5 goals for Crystal Palace, just to name a few. Of course, the usual argument is that these players do not fit LFC’s style but the truth is, out there in the big wide world of football, some manager, coach or club may just be able to match your special skills to their playing styles! 🙂

Gulacsi was a promising keeper but seemed to lack a bit of confidence. Perhaps now he’s more mature his confidence has grown.

Add Joe Allen to that list. The reality is that when you have a squad of quality players there are always going to be some that never get regular games, that’s the down side of the squad system. Players won’t show their best if they’re not playing regularly and that’s why some, such as Allen, blossom when they go to a club that will give them games.

It’s good to see Joe Allen and others doing well at their new clubs but I can’t think of any former player currently playing (Suarez excepted) who would be a regular starter in the current Liverpool team. and that includes Stirling.
