Well, what a game that was lastnight, just watched it in full and it was a cracker, i think a draw was a fair enough result but i was more overjoyed with the performance of most of the players, migs being beaten at his near post like that, shocking, enough said. Onto our game on sunday.

We welcome our beloved friends from the red side of manchester on sunday. How are they doing lately, well their 3points ahead of us in the lge which is about all the advantage they have over us right now. If we can play against them like we did lastnight ive no doubt we can beat them, their fans, of which i unfortunately know a few, are hating the way their playing and want rid of their manager, their team gets booed on a regular basis and that feeds down to their players on the pitch, brilliant and long may it continue, enough about that lot, onto our team for this game.

Will we see many changes, for me i can only see one, i know milner done ok lastnight but i would rather see lucas back in and allow hendo and Can to roam forward, did you see some of those runs by Can lastnight, brilliant and that’s what we need, hendo spraying the ball around, gerrard like, Can making those forward runs and lucas doing what he does best breaking up attacks and guarding our back 4. Ive just thought of another change but i can’t see this one happening, imo migs and the bog are a mistake just waiting to happen and that was two howlers by migs lastnight, being beaten at his near post and a goal basicaly straight from a corner kick, big big mistakes that cost us two goals and therefor all 3points, we’ve brought ward back, lets give him a try, by all accounts he done excellently while in scotland so lets see what he’s about, can’t be any worse than the other two. My team for this game would be,

ward

clyne    caulker    sakho   moreno

lucas

Can         hendo

ibe     firmino     lallana

I’ve always thought that benteke performs better coming of the bench, just appears that way to me and that front 5 played so well lastnight, why change it. I’m really looking forward to this game and like i said, we play like lastnight we’ll beat this shower, we owe them one bigtime from earlier on this season as i’m sure i don’t need to remind you of, lets hope the lads are well up for some sweet revenge and i don’t care if it’s an ugly 1-0 win or a brilliant 3-0 performance, i’d rather the latter of course.

P.s, I forgot we drafted caulker in on loan so i’ve added him to my team and took toure out, bless em, he’ll need the rest after playing lastnight lol.

Like the look of the team especially Lucas as he reads the game and breaks down attacks in midfield, which is what we did not have last night, by being a nuisance in that position gives our defence some protection and allows them time to sweep up after Lucas. And I have been looking at ward for some time watch his last game, and he kept them in the game, so if we perform in attack like last night, and tighten up the defence, think we should take all three points. Come on red men make me an happy old man

Perfect team, I would still keep Sakho out and start Caulkner… its just my opinion , Sakho with his first touch and a tad bit indecisive while passing kinda scares me….

Huytonian

I think Ward will get a chance soon but not in this game. I don’t think Toure can play two games in a week so I would expect Caulker to start unless Lovren returns. I was surprised Lucas didn’t play yesterday and would start him in place of Milner (assuming Hendo has no reaction to the game). I just hope we have some energy left after a tiring game. At least Utd had a 3-3 of their own the previous evening.

Saw the Real Madrud are receiving a transfer ban. If it’s anything like Barcas they can still get players. Which I hope for so that they take the one player from Man U who is keeping them afloat, DeGea

If the scum lost DeGea then they would be well and truly sunk

I find it difficult to predict Klopp sides because although 4-2-3-1 seems to be his preferred formation he doesn’t mind switching to a 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 at any point, either before or during the game. Whatever he chooses against United he can afford to bring Lucas back (whose tough tackling I think we’ll need) as we won’t be facing Arsenal’s pacy movement and passing. I too would go for a Clyne/Caulker/Sakho/Moreno back line but it all depends on whether Klopp thinks it’s too big a game to play a new centreback.

Lucas just behind Can and Henderson seems pretty logical and then Ibe, Firmino and Lallana across the front. Klopp may worry that Ibe could get targeted a bit in this game and so may choose to play Milner wide right, which I don’t have a problem with, and keep Ibe on the bench for later in the game. Much depends on whether Klopp plays Benteke from the start or not, which alters the formation to a single striker up top if he does, but it’s probable he’ll keep the setup generally the same as the last match to maintain momentum.

Excellent point. Brendan used to go for 4-3-3 whenever he could and try to dictate the game by playing our way, whereas Klopp seems to be more willing to develop a game plan based on the opposition we’re playing and look for weaknesses to exploit. Both ways can work, but it seems to me the difference in how the two managers see our club. Brendan always saw us a big club, illustrious history and playing our style and dictating the game is very much a Barca, Real, Bayern trait where their approach in every game is just to play they always do whereas Klopp knows of our history but has identified that the current players arent of that quality and we need to take a different way.

I always had a feeling that, to a limited extent, Brendan Rodgers tried to wrong foot oppositions, they never quite knew what formation they were going to face because he was willing to try anything he thought would work. This was why the problem of information leaking out of Melwood was a particularly annoying issue to him.

Huytonian

Brendan was forever changing formations in his last 15 months though the style stayed the same. I think the difference between him and Klopp is that Brendan’s tinkering was partly panic while Klopp looks at the opposition and decides how we should line up. He doesn’t always get it right (e.g. Watford) but given six months managing in the PL and getting to know the style of the opposition plus a couple of transfer windows to bring in players to fit his preferred systems, we should be in for exciting times.

I saw a line in injury list, that some roumours say, Sturridge could be set for United game.
considering, his name was not in papers and websites for some days, it could be true?
maybe very secret recovery, so?
would love to see Firmino adding one, with Sturridge securing the points in 82nd minute after Ibe’s dribbling 😀

KLOPPite

That’d be great. I just don’t see Ibe making a delivery that results in a goal because his final product still needs developing.

Koped49
Member

Just heard Klopp, and when asked if Sturidge was fit, he said straight out, no hesitation, NO and said nothing else.
Think, may be he as decided Sturidge has problems in his head, don’t think it is just injury. There seems to be something no right with his situation. Perhaps Klopp as given up on him, as he always seems frustrated when the media ask him about Sturidge.
Shame because fully fit and the right state of mind he is one of the best strikers in the PL.

We have the ability to really give them a real good slapping, if we play like we did against Arsenal we should win comfortably. Is Lovren likely to be back for this, most of you seem to think Caulker will start and seem to be pretty confident he can do the job. My concern is why was he not playing for QPR if he is good enough for us.

DB-99
Member

I don’t know what’s the deal with Sturridge. He’s a real ace for us but is he injured, is he training to get fit, did his pre-season go badly? He’s our best striker and we need firing on all cylinders. If he can’t be the player we need and know he can be then he’s taking up a place in the squad that can be filled by someone who’s more capable. The problem is that everyone is looking for strikers and top quality forwards are expensive and hard to come by.

Huytonian
Member

I just think Klopp is being ultra cautious with Sturridge given his injury history. When he has completed a set number of training sessions without reaction then Klopp will play him. Obviously it hasn’t happened as yet but I haven’t heard any rumours that he has broken down again.

Caulker has been at Southampton on loan (not with his club QPR) and he hasn’t got in their team because they have had a settled central defensive pairing (unlike us). He is likely to be very rusty but we don’t have a lot of choice but to play him as Kolo struggles to play 2 games in a week and Lovren is not quite ready to return.

Anybody else see LVG bad-mouth Stevie G by saying Man U can’t make a mistake like him last year and lose their heads because of emotion?

Shouldn’t there be some glorious memories of old posted here? Or at least anti-scum jokes?

Sports newsflash,
After months of lobbying by the fa, the government have decided British summertime will last all year, the difference being that in winter instead of the extra hour ,a minimum of 5 extra minutes will be added on to every man u game when they are losing and a minimum of 5 minutes deducted when winning.

Realspanishred

Ah so that’s where purple nose is working 🙂

sandiphulse

LVG also said that , that MUFC will not wait for 25 years for a title and they have a better infrastructure , it is very clear that they are scared as a unit to visit Anfield…. post Alex they still think everything will just happen just because they are MUFC ,things will happen , titles and trophies will just walk in to Old Trafford, I sincerely hope they wait more than 25 years…. 😛

Realspanishred

I agree mate I also think they are kacking themselves coming here. Lvg is always talking **** cause he knows when he loses this purple nose will make sure he gets fired. I can’t wait yeeha I’m starting to get excited now. Although I hope I’m wrong about him getting fired, long may their crap football continue.

Realspanishred

Did anyone see the journo on sky that lvg called fat. The guy has challenged him, he will lose 28pounds before the end of the season and lvg has to win 28 points. The sky reporter apparently a chav said lvg will lose. The reporter also pointed out lvgs record is worse than Moyes. Haha it just gets better all the time.

Huytonian

I really don’t want to see LVG sacked. He’s the best thing that’s happened to United (apart from Moyes). So a narrow Liverpool win with United a bit unlucky would suit fine.

Realspanishred
Member

I know what you are saying but I don’t know if my heart can handle a narrow win. I don’t think we’ll get a better chance to give them a real pasting. Who could they get that could trigger a revival at this stage of the season. He will get sacked at the end of the season anyway.

Koped49

It would suit that,
A we give them a tanking.
B they struggle pay top class players because of no champions Leauge.
C we finish above them
D we win a trophy and they win nowt

Doesn’t need any hype this one. It’s the game I love & hate at the same time. We are a team in transition, but also one that can turn up & blow teams away, manure are finding it difficult at the moment, as are we so it’s quite hard for me to call this one, but there is the one thing that we have (on our day) that they dont poses & that is high energy football which we have seen can hurt the best around. I think they will set up defensively & put that useless mop head in the middle of the park or even up top & try & frustrate us & try & pick us off if our high press breaks down. We looked very good against Arsenal all game until the ball reached our 18 yard line which is the one thing that is bothering me & also the thing, as we saw against Arsenal that can let us down so cheaply. All I ask is we don’t embarrass ourselves & give those ***** any gifts. Heart says a win but head reckons a score draw.

Realspanishred
Member

My heart says win and the good thing is so does my head. I expect us to come out flying and I see us scoring a couple in the first 20minutes I also see us under the cosh in the last 20 but holding on. As long as we take our chances we’ll be ok.

cfleejb

After the insulting dig by LVG, I hope LFC’ll rise to the occasion and show the devils that they are never too big nor too good to fail in their arrogance. Claim all the 3 pts and finish above them by the end of the season!! 🙂

You lot took the words out of my mouth and I have nothing constructive to add here because it’s all posted previously 😀

Van Gull is panicking because his slow park the bus team are up against AC/DC, Guns N’ Roses, Metallica, etc at this game today. So his snipes towards us is just his way of playing mind games.

Love Klopp’s response that he refused to leave Dortmund for Manure in 2013.

We have to be very careful not to get caught out as they will park the bus all day long and try catch us on the break.

Liverpool: Mignolet, Clyne, Toure, Sakho, Moreno, Lucas, Can, Henderson, Milner, Lallana, Firmino. Subs: Ward, Benteke, Caulker, Allen, Ibe, Smith, Teixeira

Klopp is trusting the more experienced , big and an important game to forward, hey if it does not work, he will take them off no biggie … probably the idea to keep things more in control as Milner has played more against Man U … and when we are leading comfortably , Ibe or Benteke will be sent to finish things off…. keeping the positivity going…. 3 – 1 😎

First half ends… scrappy moments… we should have been a few goals up. 2 Penalties turned down but they are open to debate.

Mop Head should have been carded or sent off for his challenge by picking up and throwing Milner to Floor.

Hopefully Klopp will find a solution for the second half which we are playing towards the Kop.
