Okay, we’ve won our last two games winning ugly and we may have to do that again tomorrow, talk of sturridge being ready but maybe not for a start, depends on how klopp see’s this game of course, with benteke scoring again he may bring studge on from the bench for the last half hour or so although i have read that he didnt travel to london with the squad. Hendo is a big miss as is Origi, i think we’re basicaly looking at the same team as the previous two games so we could line-up like this,

migs

clyne   lovren  sakho  moreno

Can       lucas

firmino    coutino   lallana

benteke

I’d like to see ibe get a start ahead of either firmino or lallana but klopp seems to be sticking with them for now. My prediction???? another ugly win, hopefully.

Yea that’s what I like to hear warrior. Positivity. And agree I too think we will win this I’m going for 1-2 with cou and Benteke with the goals. Someone needs to kick ash though, be it Klopp or whoever is captain. A big performance will be required from Lovren and Sakho.

Hopefully Benteke won’t miss easy finishes if he gets any in this match, the count is quiet for a while now and I am expecting a goal from him too.

I think Klopp knows what kind of opposition Stoke City and it’s semi finals, probably he wants Studdge to play a major role in Semi finals and that is why he is not risking him.

He wants to grind victories with teams like the hammers I guess instead of risking players like Sturridge.

This looks a very hard game. We have injury problems in midfield and attack so little chance for Klopp to rotate and the players have only had a couple of days rest since the Sunderland game while West Ham have had most of the week. A draw would be a decent result in the circumstances but if we want to make inroads into the top positions its a game we need to win. I’d bring Ibe in as he should be fresh after missing a few games and just getting a short stint against Sunderland.

First time on here during a match best team he could have picked although I would have liked to see Sturridge somewhere.

Any score will do me fine as long we have robbed their safe and a clean get away with Three points in a stolen Bus back to Anfield.

They look tired mate, not looking good

The fixtures this week has been stupid… Wednesday night away to Sunderland and this one here today also away. There wasn’t much time for recovery and this game here should have been either 5:30 PM, or on Sunday or Monday. The greedy PL rules it all.

Game is on and let’s win this one which is the last WHU vs LFC game at Upton Park

Unlucky Can…. second time denied by the woodwork for us

Realspanishred

I hope the second half reflects on the last ten minutes of the half. Once again too many players with a bad first touch. Only positives for me are Lovren and Can and Cline Lucas the rest have been poor. We need to play quicker.

This is why we won’t make top4 this season. It looks like our front four are playing for the first time. All of them have offered nothing in the game. Firmino’s ability to be so ineffective in games and actually be a liability with poor passing and touches is really frustrating. Our midfield 2 of Can and Lucas are losing that battle. Unless they wake up in the second half West Ham are going to do the double over us for the first time in 50 years!

Double change… Lallana and Smith replaces Firminio and Moreno

ickyuk

Ability not in question its desire that’s causing us problems.ability without desire is counter productive, hence west ham 2 Liverpool 0

lanoisseforp

Allen replaces Sakho… Lucas playing as a CB now in place of Sakho

lanoisseforp

Disappointed and West Ham deserve those three points. They have done the double over us this season… first time since the 1963-64 season. Next stop is Stoke City and again another way game… three of them in a week.

Realspanishred

That was dire. As ickyuk says it’s not ability that is the problem it’s desire. They wanted it more than us. What does it need for these so called to get motivated. Some of there first touches and passing is diabolical. Top 4, not a chance, these guys don’t want it enough. That was a sad sad performance.

DB-99
Member

I think it’s easy to say there’s no desire but it’s definitely not the case. I think it’s a question of belief and confidence that’s caused by a couple of factors. The major one is the degree of change in the team, from the manager and throughout the team with Benteke, Firmino which is compounded by injuries. The chemistry within the team isn’t there. We just don’t play to Benteke’s strengths and he doesn’t fit into the team. Firmino also doesn’t do anything. Compare this performance to the team with Suarez, we passed the ball quickly and decisively. Today we spend 4 to 5 seconds on the ball before making a decision to run or pass. Until that quickness, decisiveness and execution comes together, we will never reach the top4 and stay midtable.

Very poor performance.. My mind is made on Benteke. I see a slow clumsy oaf not worth close to what was paid for him. Can’t get something in now otherwise start of next season we could have 5 strikers on the books and that’s a no no. Way I see it we finish this season with what we got and go for it next season. Patience is needed now and klopp needs to be given time

DB-99

It was so obvious when Rodgers was going for Benteke that we don’t play to his strengths and maybe he was seen as a plan B. 33M for a plan B was always going to be too much! I think Klopp needs to pursue a front line of Lallana, Coutinho and Firmino and bring Benteke on as a substitute.

sandiphulse

That was bad, we kind of sensed this in the sunderland game as well, I don’t think these players are cut out to play high intensity games in a short period, it is so frustrating, Klopp is trying to grind victories, it failed against a strong counter attacking team like West Ham, let’s be patient our time will come. Ha ha high intensity games in a short period. I think you used too many words there mate, games would have done.

Huytonian

It wasn’t lack of desire, we kept trying to the end, it was sloppy passing and players not being on the same wavelength. It was also West Ham executing their game plan to perfection and scoring at times when we were on top. They deserved to win even if their first goal should not have been allowed for the foul on Moreno. Our problem all season has been scoring goals. It’s not for the lack of chances but more for the inability to put them away through lack of a fit top class striker.
Don’t lets get too despondent – Sturridge will be back soon as will Hendo and I thought Smith did well enough as a sub to merit a start against Exeter on Friday.

Realspanishred
Member

Sorry mate, yes it was a lack of desire, how many 50-50 tackles did a Liverpool player win.not a lot, if any.

Realspanishred
Member

And yes I do agree sloppy passing and a lack of understanding also contributed, imo there was also a lack of desire.

I liked Brad Smith, but he should have finished it instead of crossing, he was too scared to try it himself, what worries me though is our forwards, either they serve Benteke or they score themselves doing neither of them, opposition gets more confident, our defenders are okay, even if they had kept a clean sheet, we would have come back with a single point, the conversion rate of the chances that we get to score is pathetic, I hope we finish eighth in the table to avoid Europa League.

Realspanishred
Member

I don’t think we can criticise Brad for not trying to finish it considering he had just come on, he was the only positive for me.

cfleejb

Fatal inability to crosses and set pieces again let down LFC! Against physical sides we have been left wanting since parting days of Agger & Carragher. It’s time to fix such glaring deficiencies once and for all before harboring glory nights in Europe or trophy ware anytime soon.

KLOPPite

Honestly Carra and Agger didn’t defend set pieces vs physical teams either

Realspanishred

I don’t get the crosses bit, I saw lots of crosses but Benteke never one any and he was never in the right place anyway.

KLOPPite

On Wednesday did anybody else look ahead at the fixture list and wonder why we not only had to play West Ham with them getting two more days rest for no reason (not because of our involvement in Europe or a Cup run), but then making it the early game of the day (not that 150 minutes later would’ve mattered much).
Then saw that sluggishness confirm it today.
How much of a ****** did the schedule maker have for LFC this season with our starting away fixtures and this kind of thing?
Good news is that theoretically Klopp will have what should be an easier home stretch than what we’ve faced so far.

Realspanishred
Member

Not sure it would have made any difference but I do agree this sort of thing should not happen especially the fact they are at home.

Realspanishred

Some of these mistakes are schoolboy stuff leaving Cline 1 on 1 with their tallest striker is just silly. Our passing and challenging was poor. Their first goal was Morenos fault, get up off your *** there is nothing wrong with you. That was a lack of desire and there were lots more. I would like to see a stat on 50-50 challenges. And that’s where there was no desire, our tackling was pathetic. Smith was a positive, Moreno needs to be dropped, and not just for Exeter. If I was giving ratings not 1player would get above a 5. Shocking performance by all the lads. I’m not sure what Klopp can do to motivate this lot.

One of the big problems for us is that we’ve become predictable. Teams know we can’t defend crosses, especially against big men, so they take every opportunity to swing in a ball. They also know if they keep us outside of their box we’ll happily take potshots from distance all day long, rarely hitting the target. How often do we actually shoot from inside their box?

A real problem is a lack of confidence and decisiveness in our main attacking players, such as Benteke, Firmino, Coutinho and Lallana. They don’t want to take the responsibility to shoot most of the time so they pass the ball around between themselves giving opponents the opportunity to regroup. The best chances against West Ham came when Can and Ibe took the bull by the horns and played directly. The instances where we put teams under pressure close to their goal are too few though. Add to that our hopelessness on corners, at both ends, and opponents are seeing too many ways at which to get at us. Unfortunately, on a wet January afternoon in London, some of the players didn’t seem up for sorting the situation out.

DB-99
Member

I agree with you 100%. How often do Coutinho, Lallana and Ibe take the first man and fire a ball into the box? Never! They did that twice and scored because their attackers were ready in position to take full advantage. With Benteke upfront, we have to work the ball quickly to get into a position to cross and put a good ball in for Benteke. I always look to see where Firmino is because he should always be close to the No9 to fight for second balls and knock downs. All our midfielders and fullbacks have been extremely poor at crossing. That’s why I say Klopp must go with the false 9 with Coutinho, Firmino and Lallana upfront.

sandiphulse

Let’s face it we don’t have a promising attack, we had SAS and Gerrard lead them and we almost won the title, hopefully next season we will see something, this season Klopp will just see who can survive the training and how much are they implementing that on the ground and I am sure by now players are well aware what it takes to be in LFC.

HAMNUM8

The team again looked unbalanced which is what I’ve said before & its something we’ve looked for a long time now, it needs sorting but we have to many of the same players & I think klopp is finding it hard to get the best out of what he has. I remember moreno being left in the wilderness by BR & he got his chance & came back like a new man, now he’s been poor the last few games & with not a lot of healthy competition there’s been a few players coasting through the games of late. Brad smith when he came on looked like a player who’s was playing with pride & for the shirt, not saying everyone isn’t but a few of them need a kick up the ****. With none of these players klopps purchases & only one TW before the summer we’r just going to have to see where this season takes us & get used to indifferent performance’s but that doesn’t excuse effort, that I can’t condone.

Now this I agree 100% with, summed up my feelings perfectly.
