There’s a long road ahead of us before we’d ever get there. So it might be a little premature to ask such a question.  But these kind of thoughts come to mind on an open weekend.

IF Liverpool were to qualify through the unlikelihood of climbing a shaky Premier League table, or work their way through five rounds of Europa League, we would be in next year’s Champions Lesgue

Obviously if we don’t qualify we weren’t ready and the question is moot. But let’s imagine we put together one of these late season runs we’ve managed the last couple of seasons and pull it off through one of the those avenues.

It is fall 2016 and we are in Champions League.  Our last two attempts at the competition were epic fails with us not even making it past the group stage.  If we were to somehow get there again next year, would we have any better results?  And if not, would such a poor showing be detrimental to our progress?    Any more detrimental than not making the competition?

i have my thoughts. What are yours?

If by some miracle we did make the CL i would say yes, we would be ready and simply because i believe klopp will bring in some top quality players this summer who won’t need a season or two to bed in. A good pre-season is all a top class player needs to get the gist of what the manager wants from him and i’m sure this is the type of player klopp will look to bring in with or without CL football.

Ok I’ll go along with the miracles do happen theory although I might add not to Liverpool fc. First of all what do you mean would we be ready for the champions League. Do you mean win it or get out of the group stage, get to the quarter final, the semi final. I’m not a defeatist person but I would say no to all the above, but if miracles DO happen then yes we would win it.

I’m guessing he means to compete in it spanish which means to at least get out of the group stage and not be a complete disaster like the last time under rodgers. It’s immaterial of course because we won’t be in it but we live in hope eh mate 🙄 🙄

I’d say even with additions we would not be ready. Additions will need time to settle in and pre-season will be complicated by the Euros. We should be ready by the following season.

We will be ready to compete, but I don’t think it will be next season, it is going to take Klopp two to three years to be at a level he is aiming for, but we would compete but would still lack a little consistency , but I thought we were dead a buried back n 2005, and look what happened then.

I’m glad we all agree on this, not next season but hopefully the one after.

I must add if we make top 4 next season we will need a very good team, which in itself should make us good enough for a good showing in the champions League.

I think we can be ready. You look at results this season and what stands out is that we’re so reliably inconsistent. We blitzed City and Chelsea and lost 3-0 to Watford… We beat a woeful Villa 6-0 but drew the very next game in an uninspiring 0-0. I think if by some magical miracle, we make it to the CL, Klopp would sort out the inconsistency over pre-season and with transfers and the fact that we qualify from such a loser position we currently in, shows we would be ready. I’d be ecstatic with a cup win against City and a top 7 finish in the league. Europa league is too hard to win for us imo.

Well I am forced to draw comparisons here, when Dortmund was successful at CL and domestic league, they took a couple of seasons to get there, they did not have a fixture list like we have, they had a winter break.

While Klopp is trying evaluate the players for his long term projects, honestly most of the players(Lucas, Lovren, Sakho, Skrtel, J Allen, Migs, Benteke) are now giving their best to adapt to Klopp’s methods and style to stay with the club.

I have not seen any team that is in transition winning tournaments like Europa forget about Champions League, if we win Europa then I would say that the transition went smooth and the current players are good enough to only to compete in Champions league, however if we have to win Champions League, we definitely need some good signings to win against the top teams.
